I have the sad duty to advise Bob's faithful readers that he passed away the week before Thanksgiving, 2016. I haven't been able to write about it before. He was making his daily rounds when he came upon a big copperhead snake in the woods down below Cemetery Hill. It must have been a battle, because we found the snake lying beside him.
He had been missing for several days, and the hunt was on frantically to find him. Angel, one of his keepers, found him on Saturday before Thanksgiving after he'd not come home for 3 days. He has been cremated, as a good Egyptian priest would be, and is resting in a beautiful cedar box on the hall shelf where he loved to sit and meditate.
I know if he were here, he would urge that his blog be continued for the enlightenment and blessings of all his followers. Fortunately, his home of origin was located by accident and his mother is about to give birth to another batch of potential Hoteps. His keepers have their name in the pot for a baby Bob, and we will keep you posted should one be acquired!
Bob was a very special priest, and there will never be another to match him. His is now in the Great Pyramid with his mentor, and I'm sure they are having marvelous adventures together in his new, spiritual home. While we mourn him for our loss, we celebrate the belief in the Egyptian Afterlife, knowing that the Mighty Hotep is in his plane, flying high above us, still showering blessings and light over the city of Avinger he loved.
I am crying. It has been a very stressfull time since Bob left this plane and I feel very mournful about so many things but change is a very big part of living on this plane. I know you guys are mourning his passing and I will add some prayers for his happy, bountiful afterlife.
ReplyDeleteDo Egyptians believe in reincarnation? Would Bob try to come back or is it simply that he will be glad that his own holy lineage will produce a companion for his blessed keepers and a possible future Hotep, but a different one. Wish I had met Bob but I feel like I knew him and I will miss his stories.
Everyone in this household is getting on in age. Olive, my sister dog, has been gone for a few years and her fellow, Ing, the good dog who worries about and keeps track of everyone has a grey face and sleeps most of the time. Atticus Finch, the tuxedo cat is about the same age as Ing. He still has a mind of his own but does grace me with a cuddle or sleep in, especially if it is really cold out. He needs better food now to help deal with skin problems.
We have an ogre Princess now. Dylan found her lost and homeless so we named her Fiona. During the day she is a small, ugly, Bulldog with a malformed face and eye, at night she dreams she is a beautiful beagle. She is middle aged or around five. It has taken a long time for the others to get used to her since she does think she is royalty and is very bossy. Atticus absolutely hates her since she tries to charge him if she smells him but she is relatively blind so he is learning to stay in a different part of the house. Mosey dog, the self chosen guardian of this establishment is sliding into an active middle age. He wishes he had more opportunity to guard a larger spread since he is a little underused. Fiona likes to hang out with him and help guard since she is a warrior but Mosey ignores her. I don't believe he thinks much of her ability since she is also all but deaf it seems. She sees him barking and starts in, usually after the jogger is up the street already. Hard to know how that relationship will develop but it is developing.
Hope there is a kitten in your future and more stories. Love and big hugs!
